Hybrid Inverter 12kW Key Features

Pure Sine Wave Output – 120V / 240V Split Phase

Delivers clean, stable AC power ideal for sensitive electronics and household appliances. The split-phase configuration supports both 120V and 240V loads simultaneously—perfect for North American and similar electrical systems.

Time-of-Use (TOU) Charging & Discharging Settings

It intelligently schedules battery charging from the grid during off-peak hours. It also discharges during peak-rate periods. This helps users significantly reduce electricity bills while supporting grid stability.

Battery-Free Operation with PV + Grid Combined Supply

The solar system operates efficiently even without batteries. It intelligently combines solar and grid power to support loads. This is a cost-effective solution for users prioritizing immediate savings and simplicity.

Advanced Hybrid Functionality

  • Grid-interactive (sell back excess solar power when allowed)

  • Automatic generator start (dry contact for 2-wire start)

  • Time-of-use scheduling & programmable charge/discharge periods

  • Built-in smart load management port (for non-essential loads)

Independent Generator Interface with Intelligent Load Support

Features a dedicated generator input that automatically coordinates with solar and battery sources. The split phase solar inverter intelligently manages loads during generator operation, optimizing fuel consumption and runtime.

Two-Level Anti-Backflow Protection for Grid Safety

Complies with stringent grid interconnection standards through dual-layer anti-backfeed control. This prevents unwanted power export to the grid. This is essential for regions with strict net-metering or zero-export regulations.

Split Phase Hybrid Solar Inverter Working Modes

GRANKIA HS2 series split phase solar inverter power backup working mode

1. Solar + Grid Available (Normal Mode)

  • Solar panels generate power and feed it into the inverter.

  • Priority of power usage:

    1. Solar power supplies household loads first.

    2. Excess solar power charges the batteries.

    3. Remaining energy is exported to the grid (feed-in).

  • Surplus energy can be exported to the grid (if enabled).

2. Grid Available, No Solar (Low Sunlight)

  • Solar input is unavailable.

  • The inverter supplies loads using:

    • Grid power supports the loads
  • The grid can also charge the batteries according to settings (e.g. time-of-use mode).

3. Grid Outage (Backup / Off-Grid Mode)

  • The utility grid is disconnected.

  • The inverter automatically switches to backup mode.

  • Loads are powered by:

    • Solar panels (if available), and

    • Batteries.

  • Critical loads continue to run without interruption, ensuring power reliability during outages.

How Does Grid Safety Protection Work in Hybrid Inverter 12kW?

The 12kW split-phase hybrid inverter has two-level anti-backflow (anti-backfeed) protection. This ensures grid safety. It is particularly important in regions with strict regulations against exporting excess solar power to the utility grid (e.g., areas with zero-export or net-metering restrictions).

Here’s how this dual-layer grid safety protection works:

Level 1: Real-Time Power Monitoring & Regulation

  • The inverter continuously monitors the instantaneous power flow between the system (solar + battery) and the connected loads.
  • If it detects that generated power (from PV or battery) exceeds local consumption, it automatically curtails solar production. It adjusts battery discharge to match the exact load demand and prevent power from flowing back into the grid.
  • This is achieved through high-speed digital signal processing. It modulates the inverter’s output in real time. This modulation occurs typically within milliseconds to maintain zero export.

Level 2: Hardware-Based Backfeed Prevention

  • Even if software control were to fail (e.g., due to a rare firmware glitch), a hardware-level safety mechanism acts as a fail-safe.
  • This may include:
    • contactor or relay disconnects the inverter’s AC output from the grid. It does so when backfeed is detected or during grid faults.
    • Built-in anti-islanding protection compliant with UL 1741 standards. This ensures the inverter shuts down immediately if the grid goes down. It prevents dangerous “islanding” scenarios where the inverter could energize a supposedly de-energized grid line.
